Nigel Grimmer, such an artist that many people don’t know about or dismiss, looking into his work more perfectly the creation of “Road Kill” a take on his earlier family portrait.
Having the fortunate of having a private viewing of his work is Southend and the chance to meet himself gave be a better understanding in to the images.
With the back-story of the Road Kill gallery, gave be a better understanding. The back-story being that with the earlier images consisted of just his friends, this he calls his family reason for this being that his family did not take to his sexuality and did not wont to associate themselves within his work, there is just the one image that brakes this trend which was one of his mum lying as Road Kill.
This image can not be defined as with every person having their face covered brakes up the distinction of who is who, in the early days it was a case of each holiday or event he would take a portrait, building on his collection each portrait would consist of a loved person, a new different mask and a setting that can appear to be a place of road kill.
